LOCAL4GREEN has supported Mediterranean Local Authorities to use the green local taxation as a tool to promote Renewable Energy Sources.

78 pilot municipalities from Albania, Croatia, Cyprus, Greece, Italy, Malta, Slovenia, Spain and Portugal, have been involved in the Project, designing and implementing innovative local fiscal policies to promote RES.

173 green fiscal policies have been designed, most of them entail a reduction on: the property tax, the fee for construction of new buildings/refurbishment, the fees for use or occupation of public land, the tax on economic activities, the municipal buildings leasing/renting revenues and the waste collection and lighting fees.

79 fiscal policies have been approved by 34 pilot municipalities for RES promotion in the MED area.
